Rules on employing foreigners in Singapore
Key Changes from 2018 onwards
It is middle July, we are heading into the second half of the year.
Some changes on Singapore’s employment law especially for foreigners are coming, and we always need to be aware of them.
Here is the summary of key changes:
1) Increase in minimum qualifying salary for S Pass holders
(S Pass: given for mid-level skilled foreigners)
- Currently S$2,200
- Increase to S$2,300 (effective Jan 2019)
- Increase to S$2,400 (effective Jan 2020)
2) Change on Fair Consideration Framework (FCF)
With effect from this month, 1 July 2018, FCF is to be applied to all employers with at least 10 workers and for jobs paying less than SGD 15,000 per month.
