Public vs private university graduates in Singapore
Who earns more?
"47.4% (of private uni graduates) find such jobs 6 months after studies, compared with 78.4% from 3 public unis".
The Straits Times newspaper reported the survey result early this month.
3 public universities are National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and Singapore Management University (SMU).
Post-national service polytechnic graduates recorded a 64% full-time employment rate, which is better than 47.4% (of private uni graduates).
The survey, originally conducted by the Committee for Private Education, also found that private school fresh graduates had median gross starting salaries of $2,650 a month, below the $3,400 for public graduates.
The average starting salary for Post-NS polytechnic graduates was $2,480 a month.
