Hundreds of firms on MOM watch list
Update on strengthening the Singaporean core
300 employers are currently on the Fair Consideration Framework watch list, monitored for unfair hiring practices. (Increased from 250 firms announced in March 2017)
This watch list system has led to the increase of Singaporeans securing jobs over the past 3 years.
Mr Lim Swee Say, Minister for Manpower, answered to Parliamentary Question on efforts to strengthen the Singaporean core.
He said that more than 60 firms have already made significant improvements and exited the watch list, while 25 firms still remain uncooperative, their work pass privileges being tightened.
He also revealed that around 1,700 EP applications were withdrawn by the firm or rejected by MOM since 2014, which means that these firms could hire about 1,700 more Singaporean PMETs.
MOM will continue to help the HR practices focusing on local workers first.
