30% of fresh graduates quit their first job within a year
Monster.com research
The latest survey held by Monster.com, a global employment website, reported fresh grad employment trend in Singapore and here is a quick summary:
- Graduates in Singapore expect quick professional development and the chance to earn higher salaries within the first year.
- They have a lack of industry knowledge, not being prepared for working life and long hours.
- Although almost half of Singapore graduates can take up to 3 months to land their first job, 30% of them quit their first job within a year.
- The main reason of leaving jobs is that they want to seek professional growth.
Mr Sanjay Modi, Monster.com's managing director, said that these findings show obvious disconnects between employer and empoyee expectations.
He also added "Young talents have unrealistic expectations about salaries."
